Stevens County Royal Family Kids Camp started in 2005 and ran for four consecutive years under the vision of our first co-directors, Tina Jones and Judy Lindemann. After a two year hiatus, the camp started back up with our current director, Rod Shannon, and co-director Tina Petty. It has been going strong ever since.
Our campers come from Stevens County, Washington, the second poorest county in Washington State. There is a large drug problem in our county, resulting in many kids in foster care or being raised by family members. We feel that need deeply, and are committed to ministering to as many of these kids as we can.
Our host church, Abundant Life Fellowship in Chewelah, Washington, is a small church in comparison to most churches hosting a camp: the attendance on Sunday morning averages around 80 people.
Because it takes a HUGE amount of people to put on a RFKC, we have volunteers from up to ten different churches in our county. This makes for a wonderful experience at camp, as people across denominations and backgrounds come together to show Christ’s love to our campers.
In 2016, Tina Petty stepped down as co-director and Traci Case attended Directors’ Training. 2017 was her first year as co-director.
We have a dedicated board and a fund-raising team who are tireless in bringing in the funds we need for camp. Each year is a stretch, but God is good and His provision never fails. It’s His camp after all!
